“My wife and I have had the great pleasure of spending time in “the playground” with Randy on a weekly basis since 2004. In those years, which have passed ever so quickly, he always brought joy and enthusiasm. Without fail, he tuned in immediately to whatever our situation was, and brought positive thinking and advice. His new book provides testament to his adventure with so many great clients, and valuable lessons learned from each. Most significantly, he presents the critical importance of nurturing positive mental health in the quest for fitness. This book is a must read for anyone seeking to improve their physical and psychological condition. ‘Life Lessons from the Gym’ will also help them to have fun on their personal journey!”

“What I appreciate most about Randy is that he is interested in my overall health including my mental, spiritual, and social well-being in addition to my physical health. He challenges me to think deeper on a multitude of issues that ultimately have served to improve my overall outlook on life and my health.”
~ Jay Easaw, MD, PHD, FRCP(C)

“No matter how many times I’ve been knocked down by life, Randy has always helped me get back on my feet and moving again. He has done extensive volunteer work for decades, both at the YMCA and in areas that are not just to do with physical wellness, but also mental health.”
~ Tema Frank, Author “People Shock

“Randy has laser focus when it comes to fitness. While he teaches techniques he also educates his clients, not using the “lingo” but in a way they understand the role that nutrition and exercise play in physical fitness and wellnes. As a good listener, he helps his clients clarify their goals.”
~ Lois Browne, PHD

“I want to share exciting news about Randy Lee, our long-time donor and volunteer personal trainer from William Lutsky Family YMCA, and his incredible efforts in self-publishing a book dedicated to supporting the YMCA.

In 2016, Randy was recognized as the Bill Rees Volunteer Award Recipient for the Program and Service Volunteer award. I would like to personally congratulate Randy on becoming an author, and for his positive contributions to the YMCA and YMCA Giving throughout the years. Randy has written a timely book, ‘Life Lessons from the Gym: The Mental Game of Transformation’, about strategies and techniques in fitness and all areas of life. Randy has graciously committed to donating a portion of his book sales to YMCA of Northern Alberta.

On behalf of the organization, thank you Randy for your exceptional support of the YMCA and we wish you all the best with your new book.”
~ Nick Parkinson – President & CEO YMCA of Northern Alberta

“This is an excellent book for those thinking of starting an exercise program or getting back to one. The book does not give exercises to do. It is divided into 4 sections which are: Psychological, Nutrition, Exercise, and Recovery. One hundred and eighty nine people who have worked with Randy over the past 40 plus years told their brief story on how they got started, stayed with it, how their routine works for them and where necessary for the participant what they ate or did not eat to gain muscle and lose fat. The sub title is, the mental game of transformation. The book is chock full of information and there are a few chuckles along the way.”

“I do consider myself VERY lucky indeed that you have taken me on at your advanced age!  You should be slowing down, not making house calls. My good luck is you are not thinking age is a number and you must stop at certain numbers.  And my good luck again is that you come with more experience than many will ever put in the time and study to have at their finger tips.  So even though this is not fun and is hard I don’t throw away golden gifts.”
